JJ’s back!

It’s official. AJ Cook just confirmed via Twitter that she’s signed back on for Criminal Minds for not just one, but two years!

This comes as great news for fans who were devastated when she was let go at the earlier part of the season. JJ was an integral part of the team. Not having her around was like having a gaping hole that can never be filled by any replacement they bring on-board.

Now if only they can bring Emily Prentiss back as well. I can dream, right? ^___^

Fall Season TV returns!

As much as I hate to admit it, I can never swore off watching Criminal Minds. The show fostered my love for profiling people. Countless of times I wished we had a BAU in this country. I would gladly take my chances and apply for a position. This current season is bittersweet as this will be the last for AJ Cook and Paget Brewster. I will be missing JJ and Emily. There goes my Hotch/Prentiss dream down the drain! :(

Over the summer hiatus, my sister and I became converts of Modern Family. It reminds us of the same brand of humor we loved in Arrested Development. Sadly, the latter failed to captivate a wider fanbase after its first season. Steve Levitan and Chris Lloyd, on the other hand, did their homework well and came up with a winning combination of a great casting ensemble and effortlessly funny scripts. Now I'm a fan of Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara. It is their scenes I look forward to the most in every episode.

GLEE? Nah, I'd rather stay mum on the subject. Let's just say I still watch the show if only for Harry Shum and Jane Lynch. Now once they start hints of a Mike Chang/Quinn Fabray pairing... then they'll have me back hook, line and sinker. But it's just a fangirl's dream, much like how Dan/Blair is to Gossip Girl.

GOSSIP GIRL

I'm still on the look-out for reviews of new shows who are on its pilot season. So far Nikita's shaping up to be a favorite. Hellcats is not that bad although I still can't stand Aly Michalka. Ashley Tisdale, on the other hand, looks so much better as a brunette. Mindless shows like these help especially when all you want to do is relax after a stressful day at the work.

So what's on your TV viewing list these days?

The after-math of downsizing…

ausiello

Some of my favorite shows are dropping some series regulars for next season! First there was AJ Cook and Paget Brewster. Just yesterday, Ask Ausiello confirmed that Emily VanCamp will be leaving Brothers and Sisters next season after two episodes. I guess this is one way of bringing in more love interests for Justin, huh? I actually liked him and Rebecca together. They had chemistry. But they had a lot of issues between the two of them, not to mention the history between their families.

Primary reason for the downsizing seems to be budget cuts. Oh well, perhaps this will serve as a lesson for me not to be too emotionally attached to a certain show. I hate it when cast members leave!

What a chauvinistic move, CBS!

I'm not even sure I'll look forward to the 7th season after reading about this yesterday from Ask Ausiello. Seriously, CBS? The show's strength lies on its ensemble acting and I don't think the dynamics would ever be the same if it's merely the guys who are running the show. Drop the spin-off if you must, but keep JJ and Prentiss.

Oh, and perhaps fellow fans might want to sign the petition too?

Yes, I am a couch potato...

images from Amazon

For my first Team Carnival entry, allow me to share with you 5 TV shows I wouldn't mind watching over and over again on DVD. Nowadays I tend to gravitate more towards procedural dramas because I'd like to think I have the brains for it (I wish! ^_^). But back then, I was just like your regular couch potato who was after the eye candy and believed in happily ever afters. Making it to my Top 5 are two shows who have been renewed for the next season and three who have long-ended their run on the boob-tube.

DAWSON'S CREEK - Way back when Katie Holmes was still likeable and Joshua Jackson was still Charlie Conway (and soon, Pacey Witter)  for everybody . This, was a staple Tuesday morning discussion at school during my college years. Nevermind if Tabing-Ilog "sort of" ripped-off its concept. Come to think of it, this show most likely introduced me to the concept of 'shipping wars way before Harry Potter ever did. I mean, who among you here were on Team Dawson? or Team Pacey?

CHARMED - Ahhh, The Power of Three. What I loved most about the show was how it dealt with sibling issues together with the advancement of their powers. Who wouldn't want to be part of the Halliwell sisters? The girls managed to juggle good looks, awesome jobs and hot guys with their lifestyle as witches.

FRIENDS - Six people with distinct personalities stuck with each other for ten years to show us just how far friends go for the people they love. I watched this mainly because of my love for Mondler. But one can never deny that Phoebe Buffay was the real scene stealer.

GLEE - Despite the continuity issues and the hype surrounding it, I love Glee for making me remember what it was like to be in high school again and to be so idealistic in achieving what you want from life.

CRIMINAL MINDS - Unlike CSI, the team is not after the evidence but rather the behavioral background which prompted the unsub to commit the crime. Profiling is my dream job. So much that I like practicing it on my officemates or just anyone at random. I love what the team does for a living and the fact that they get to help solve some crimes is an added bonus. Too bad we have no Behavioral Analysis Unit in the country... or is there one that I don't know of?

I really have a lot of favorites, but these are shows I can actually sit through an entire season of. How about you? What are your favorite TV shows?

Hotch/Prentiss, anyone?

From TV Guide:

Criminal Minds' Hotch and Prentiss have had some great scenes together this season. Is there any chance (fingers crossed) that they will become a couple? — Holly

MATT: A couple, no — but a source tells me you will see how much they care for each other as team members. That moment comes during a February March sweeps episode, when Hotch sticks his neck out for Prentiss on a case that is very personal to her. In that same hour, you'll also get new insight into Prentiss' romantic past, including mistakes she made as a teen.

Cool! Just the kind of spoiler to brighten up my day. Prentiss is by far my favorite character on CM and Hotch comes a close second. Although admittedly I'm a closet 'shipper of the two, any episode with them working closely together as professionals is something to look forward to.

Is it travesty that I completely missed Criminal Minds for two weeks now? Looks like someone's too caught up with Boys Over Flowers.

Rants and Raves

For the life of me, I simply cannot get it why people keep on wishing (or insisting) that Emily's secret on Criminal Minds has to do with her sexuality. Now don't get me wrong. I have nothing against members of the third sex but too much slash ruins my TV. Maybe I'm just affected because she is my favorite character and I simply don't see her as one. Please Ed Bernero, prove them wrong!

~

Two episode so far and I'm still not feeling any love for Deanna Russo's Sarah on Knight Rider. Now that they've decided to get rid of her father on the series for its remaining episodes, I'm secretly wishing her character would follow suit. Justin Bruening deserves someone totally hot and kick-ass! Not some chick with a penchant for bra-less, strapless attires.

~

Dirty, Sexy Money is cancelled?!? My sister is crushed.

Ginny Weasley's kick-ass quidditch attire. Ahhh, I love it! Too bad we have to wait for 8 more months.

I'm off to watching The House Bunny later. Nothing like some good, old chick flick for some mindless TV viewing.

Profiling at its best

I would like to thank my CTV angels for bringing me Criminal Minds earlier this week. That said, can I just say I totally enjoyed Catching Out? This definitely goes to my top episodes for the season. The unsub was pretty hard to recognize but once they pieced together a profile (Vortex Guy!) it was all a matter of time before he got caught. Emily speaking Spanish was cute though. That lady is talented! She's my new role model.

Big surprise when Morgan didn't get to save the day for a change. Good judgment on the writers' part. It was getting annoying how he turns up as the alpha male in every operation. Let Rossi, Reid and Hotch have their chance, man!

I nitpick for fun

Who knew there was actually a Center Stage 2? I loved the original movie and I don't think this can ever compare to it.

~

What's with Cathy Garcia-Molina and her fascination with wigs? In all but one of the movies she's done for Star Cinema, the lead girl is always seen sporting one. Does a wig or someone who wore one figure prominently in her past that she's decided to make it a running theme in her flicks? Wala lang, just an observation.

~

When will they ever air the third season of Criminal Minds? Studio 23 already had the second season finale last week and now they're doing re-runs of the first season for the nth time. Darn! They should be on FUSE too.

What’s up in TV Land?

While watching Criminal Minds last night, my sister and I were discussing what exactly is Emily Prentiss' backstory? Viewers know nothing more about her other than being a diplomat's daughter, someone who's fluent in several languages and one who was too eager to rise up to the ranks of the FBI but abandoned those thoughts in favor of her team. Then an idea suddenly hit me and I realized... what if she and Hotch shared more things in common than what viewers thought? This is not my shippy mind working, but I do feel that more or less she went through the same things that Hotch did before. She's like the female version of him, only less stiff and less workaholic.

~

It's so weird seeing Daniel LaRusso Ralph Macchio all-grown up. Sadly, I am stuck in a time-warp where he'll always be the baby-faced Karate Kid for me. Be sure to catch him on Ugly Betty this season!

~

Smallville's getting pretty interesting too thanks to those Clark/Lois moments at The Daily Planet. Now they're far off from couplehood yet but their banters are all that's important. Too bad Lana's returning for a couple of episodes.

~

On local TV, things at Survivor Philippines are starting to heat up now that the merge is fast approaching. Tsk, tsk... bad move, Jarakay. Now it's pretty much given that Naak will enter the merge having the majority. Kakainin kayo ng buhay. Haha!
